Bamboo is a renewable resource and one of nature’s most important substitutes for the endangered rainforest hardwoods. It is a quick-growing, versatile, non-timber forest product whose rate of biomass generation is unsurpassed by any other plants. It is also the fastest growing plant on earth and can be harvested in a span of about 5 years. This means that we do not have to worry about exhausting this resource unlike other plants that takes more than a decade to mature before they can be harvested. To top it all off, bamboo is 100% biodegradable and guaranteed safe for our environment. Once you have used the bamboo toothbrush and are ready to discard it, all you have to do is add it to your home composter. It should only take around 4-6 months to decompose.

We love Pandas just as much as Gorillas. Bamboo is not the natural habitat of gorillas, so no issue with this wonderful and majestic animal. Furthermore, our toothbrushes are made of Moso bamboo, which is dubbed “panda-friendly” because pandas do not eat it or inhabit the area where it grows. In other words, the type of bamboo we are using grows on high places which is beyond any Pandas reach. Don’t worry, we made sure not to touch the abundant source of food of the panda.

No, the bamboo is completely natural; it is however heat-treated, water resistant and splinter-proof.

The handle is made from 100% sustainable bamboo and can be put in your home compost or in a commercial composting bin. The bristles are made from Dupont Nylon 6 and are not biodegradable. Unfortunately current technology for fully biodegradable bristles does not yet meet our desired criteria. For this reason and to guarantee premium standards of comfort for you, we have selected non-toxic BPA FREE polymer bristles, resistant to microbial growth during normal use, as the best option to ensure safety and durability. Please see the next topic on how to dispose of the bristles correctly.

Let your toothbrush dry after use to maximise the life span and guarantee premium quality until it is time for you to replace it. Dentists recommend to renew your toothbrush every three months.

Dentists recommend to renew your toothbrush every three months. When you are done with the old one, just break off the bristle head or remove the bristles with pliers and throw the handle in the compost bin. Each country has different recycling options, but in most countries and cities you’ll be able to put the bristles in the plastic recycling bin. Ask your local recycling facility about the best way to recycle the bristles. We love it when you get creative and find ways to reuse the toothbrush.
